AI Just Did My Least Favorite Job: SEO Optimization in Minutes

2026-03-27

I've always hated doing SEO. As a web and app developer, writing meta tags, optimizing images, adding Twitter cards, and remembering to create a robots.txt file feels like tedious busywork. I'd usually do the bare minimum — maybe a title tag and a description — and skip the rest unless a client specifically asked for it.

Yesterday, I decided to let my AI Copilot handle it instead.

I pointed it at the new website I had just built in the last two days (a business site to help me sell custom app and web development services) and asked it to do a full SEO audit and implementation. The results were surprisingly good.

What the AI Actually Did

The AI went through every file in the project, understood the context of the entire application, and gave me a clear checklist of exactly what needed to be updated. Then it didn't just suggest changes — it actually implemented most of them:

  • Proper title and meta description tags
  • Open Graph and Twitter Card meta tags (which I almost never bother with for my own projects)
  • Structured data where it made sense
  • A clean robots.txt with the right directives
  • Language tags and other technical basics I often forget

Because the Copilot already knew my codebase and what we had built before, the suggestions were fairly accurate. It felt like working with a teammate who understands the whole project, not just a generic SEO tool.

The Site in Question

I used it for this website — the one you're on right now. I have experienced developers ready on the bench, and we're actively looking for new projects to take on.

After the AI finished its work, the site should be in much better shape for search engines and social sharing. Of course, I still had to double-check a couple of things (like the main title not applying correctly at first), but the heavy lifting was done.

Why This Matters

This experience showed me one of the best uses for AI in development right now: taking care of the boring but important tasks so I can focus on what I actually enjoy — building products, shipping SaaS, and talking about the full process from code and architecture all the way to customer acquisition and stats.

If you're a developer who also dreads SEO, try letting your AI agent handle it. You might be pleasantly surprised by how well it knows your project.
